On December 21, 2005, Diamond Pet Food issued a massive recall over 15 different dog and cat food varieties.
The corn grain was found to contain a toxic mold called Aflatoxin - a naturally occurring chemical that comes from a fungus sometimes found on corn and other crops. Over 75 dogs have been killed, and many more hospitalized.
This is yet another reason why Flint River Ranch only purchases grains from major human food providers! Food/ingredient suppliers test and re-test their grains, and store them in the appropriate conditions.
